VENUES: Mirra Boutique Events Launches in Brisbane 25/11/2007 - By Maria Mourikis
With their inaugural event held just last week, and the finishing touches to the venue still being added, Mirra Boutique Events has exploded onto the Brisbane function scene, providing a much needed hire space in the thriving inner city suburb of Fortitude Valley, hears Maria Mourikis.
Essentially a converted warehouse, Mirra can be subdivided into three main function spaces. For a more intimate gathering of around 50 people standing, The Octagon Room includes a spectacular feature wall, which consists entirely of octagon shaped mirrors housed in square bronze frames, and fabulous floral printed carpet in lavender, chocolate brown and mint, which adds a funky vibe to the room. Then there is The Long Room, which runs the length of the building and can stand up to 85 guests. As the name suggests, this section forms a long rectangular shape, leading directly onto a laneway courtyard that sports a French garden theme, which can hold an additional 120 standing guests. For larger functions, The Grand Room can take up 200 standing guests, or by reconfiguring the easily manoeuvred leather room dividers, you can hire the entire venue, which caters for up to 400 standing guests and 250 seated. The foyer is beautifully decorated in a Shanghai meets Paris theme, which makes a grand statement as you entry the stylish event space, featuring mosaic tiling, a bronze mirrored ceiling, and floral silk panel wall coverings.
Apart from the feature walls, the interior is fetta white; with high warehouse ceilings that give the space a blank canvas feel.We have kept the steel truss structure and inserted paintings in between each truss, so the ceiling is an apex, explains the venue owner, Louise Price.Apart from The Long Room, there is no natural light, though there are plenty of down lights and ornate chandeliers, as well as European inspired lamps littering the individual rooms. The venue has an in-house events manager dedicated to meeting the special requests of clients, which includes organising furniture, such as couches, chairs and tables, provided free of charge, or the additional hiring of lighting or AV equipment, and just about any form of entertainment.
Clients can also choice between a canape menu or a sit down dinner or lunch menu to suit just about any taste buds ranging from Asian buffets through to French provincial.Word of mouth is spreading fast about this exciting new Brisbane venue, and there is already plenty of interest in time for Christmas. There is a minimum spend on food and beverages for each room, which starts at $2,000 up to $20,000, depending on the number of guests. For more information, click thru to Mirra Boutique Events
